EnergySOS.org is a web-based effort dedicated to bringing the energy vision of Nobel Laureate Rick Smalley (1943–2005) to reality.

Rick's vision was an answer to what he coined the "terawatt challenge"—producing enough cheap, clean energy for the 10 billion people that are soon to inhabit this planet. His answer involved an Apollo-like mission to develop and deliver the technology necessary to produce 60 terawatts of energy.

Part of this effort is an urgency to bring young people into the sciences. Therefore, EnergySOS.org is devoted to providing a venue for information, education, and collaborations aimed at solving the world’s energy issues.

Along the way we will reveal the life and passion of this great American hero, not only as a tribute from his devoted family, but as a pattern of success for others to emulate.
